At first glance, Svetlana and Yuriy Panteleenko seem like an ordinary couple, but they're actually part of a very unusual family.
The pair adopted an orphan bear cub named Stepan when he was just three months old - he was found by hunters in the woods in very poor condition, but the couple nurtured him back to health and he's now been a part of the family for 23 years.
Stepan is gentle and very domesticated. He even enjoys dining with the Russian couple at their dinner table and cuddling up afterwards to watch TV with them.
Of course, it's not always easy to live with a 7-foot tall bear that weighs some 300+ pounds, though he does help out with some of the household chores, like watering the plants in the garden.
Besides watching TV and working in the garden, Stepan enjoys being read to, although his favorite time of the day is snuggling up with his family on the couch.
Mrs. Panteleenko said that Stepan "absolutely loves people and is a really sociable bear."
"Despite what people might think, he is not aggressive at all," she explained, adding, "We have never been bitten by Stepan."
He eats over 55 pounds of fish, vegetables and eggs every day. He's also partial to porridge, although his favorite dish is condensed milk.
He also appreciates a good cup to tea.
Stepan's active lifestyle helps keep him fit - he often plays games outdoors with the Panteleenkos.
